Why Root Pruning?
At J.D. Thornton Nurseries we root prune our material semi-annually to ensure that the tree moves to its new home without suffering little if any transplant shock. By using the process of cutting back longer, more established roots, it encourage a tree to form new feeder roots closer to the root ball. Root pruning is an essential step when you are transplanting an established tree.
Fertilizing
J.D. Thornton Nurseries works closely with a local fertilizer company to create a special blend of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, as well as additional micronutrients to ensure the trees we grow have all the essential nutrients available for them to grow strong and healthy.
Trimming Every Year
Tree trimming is an essential step to grow trees with proper branching, and beautiful canopies. Trimming is done semi-annually.
